A slip knot is the first step in casting on for most knitting projects. In this video we will show you how to create a slip knot.

Step-by-step guide
Step 1:
Starting from the tail end of your yarn, about 15 centimetres from the end, make a loop.
Step 2:
Place the yarn at the back of your loop.
Step 3:
Pull the yarn through the loop, and tighten to finish your slip knot.
Step 4:
Slip onto your needle, and pull the tail that leads to the yarn ball. Then tighten the slip knot.
Step 5:
Move the knitting needle, with the slip knot, into your left hand.
